Welcome! We’re glad you found us!
As part of a collaborative effort to expand the reach of The HealthyWoman Program of Central PA, we have set up this blog to help guide women in receiving the help they deserve.
But first, let us introduce ourselves.
With The HealthyWoman Program, women who qualify are able to receive the following free services:
- Clinical breast exams
- Pelvic exams and Pap smears
- Follow-up diagnostic tests for abnormal screening results
- Referrals to other services, as needed
These services are crucial to every woman’s health and well-being.
According to American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommendations, women ages 40 to 54 should get mammograms every year. Women ages 55 and older may continue mammograms every two years if in good health.
Cervical cancer testing should start at age 21, according to ACOG. Women between the ages of 21 and 29 should have a Pap test every three years. Women between the ages of 30 and 65 should have a Pap test plus an HPV test every five years.
We offer these services specifically to central Pennsylvania. Clients in the following counties may contact us to be referred to the closest or most convenient provider:
To learn more about whether or not you may be eligible, contact us. Our friendly staff will ask you a few brief questions, such as age and income level, to determine your eligibility.
Once we get to know you, we will guide you right away to the local services available to you. Even if you are not eligible for The HealthyWoman Program, we may be able to guide you to other services available to help a woman in your particular situation.
Every woman deserves to choose a healthy life, even if you’re feeling overwhelmed by high deductibles, high co-pays or not having insurance at all.
Our help doesn’t stop at financial solutions. We’ll connect you with some of the best providers in your area, and offer guidance and support following test results. If breast or cervical cancer is detected through screenings offered via The HealthyWoman Program, you may be eligible for free treatment ongoing, and we can help to connect you with those services as well.
You should never have to face your health fears alone. That’s why we’re here to help.
You’ve got this. We’ve got you.
